Kim has recently taken up watercolor painting to let out some freehand creative energy that’s been building up. Drawn to the abstract and obscure, her paintings are all inspired by nature. Maybe it’s because she’s surrounded by concrete and city blocks and looking at these give her peace. Or maybe it’s because she can’t get enough of exploring the outdoors. Her paintings start out based on an idea and end up going somewhere unexpected. Watercolor is unpredictable and slightly uncontrollable, which is what she loves about it. It forces her to let go of perfection, let the paint do the talking and let mistakes guide the next step.
